About
Hoo Marina is on the southern bank of the River Medway in Kent, downstream from Rochester and Chatham, where the Medway begins to broaden towards its junction with the Thames Estuary at Sheerness. The Medway and its creeks form an extensive area of tidal water popular with east coast sailors, and Hoo sits amid the working agricultural landscape of the Hoo Peninsula. The area is historically rich — Dickens drew heavily on this stretch of the Thames and Medway — and the nearby Isle of Grain and marshes of the peninsula offer a remote and atmospheric sailing environment.
