Finding a berth on Sydney Harbour

BerthFinder lists 39 marinas and berth providers around Sydney Harbour, from Rushcutters Bay and Darling Point to the harbour's bays and inlets. Marina pens close to the city are popular, so ask early and be ready to go on a waiting list.

Marina pen or private mooring?

There are two ways to keep a boat on the harbour. A marina pen gives you walk-on access, and you arrange it with the marina. If you need power and water, say so when you ask, and each marina will confirm. A private mooring is a licence from Transport for NSW: it's issued to individuals, the boat must normally be at least 5.2 metres, and it runs for a year at a time. You apply through Service NSW's mooring map, and if nothing is free in your bay you can join a priority waiting list.

What a marina will ask you

Length overall, beam, draft and the dates you need, in metres or feet. A marina can't say yes or no without all four, so have them ready before you ask.

How to get a quote

Tell us your boat's length, beam and draft, where you'd like to be, and when. We send your request to the marinas that fit, and their answers come straight back to you. It's free for boat owners.

Will your boat fit?

Whether a marina in Sydney Harbour can take your boat depends on its length, beam and draught, not just whether it has a space. 17 of the 39 listings here publish their maximum length; where it's missing, call ahead or send an enquiry and the marina will confirm. If you run one of these marinas, you can claim your listing and add your limits so boats that fit can find you.
