About

Cherbourg Marina lies in the vast roadstead of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin at the tip of the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy — one of the most strategically important harbours in the English Channel. The port offers well-sheltered berths in a tidal harbour with good access to the main town's facilities. For cross-Channel passages between southern England and northern Brittany or the Atlantic coasts of France and Spain, Cherbourg is the key waypoint on the French side. The tides here are among the largest in Europe, and the Alderney Race to the northwest is one of the most demanding tidal races in the Channel. Timing passages carefully around the tides is essential.
