Hunstanton Harbour

Hunstanton Harbour is on the west-facing Norfolk coast on the eastern shore of The Wash, making it unusual among English harbours in facing west and enjoying sunsets over the sea rather than sunrises. The Wash is a large tidal bay shared by Norfolk and Lincolnshire, famous for its grey and common seals and important wading bird populations. The approach to Hunstanton dries extensively, and entry is tide-dependent. The Victorian seaside town has striped cliffs of red and white chalk and carstone, a distinctive local feature, with a traditional holiday atmosphere and good local shops.
