Jachtwerf van der Werff is ontstaan in 1881 en is één van de oudste werven van Midden-Friesland, nog steeds in familiebezit. Vroeger werden er houten skûtsjes gebouwd; later stapte men over op stalen schepen voor beroeps- en pleziervaart. Vandaag houdt het bedrijf zich bezig met zomer- en winterberging (buiten en overdekt), reparatiewerk, de inbouw van motoren, een doe-het-zelf loods en de restauratie van historische schepen.
