About

Marina de Capbreton sits on the Landes coast of the French Basque Country, at the mouth of a river channel cut through the famous Les Landes pine forest. Capbreton is a surf town with a young, outdoor-sports character, and the Gouf de Capbreton — a dramatic submarine canyon that begins just offshore — creates some of the best surf in Europe. For sailors, the marina provides the only shelter between Arcachon to the north and the Spanish Basque ports to the south. Atlantic swell runs straight into the entrance channel, and the bar can be rough in westerly or north-westerly weather; timing the entry on the last of the flood is recommended. Good provisioning and fuel in the marina.
