Marina de Pico Madalena is located in Madalena on Pico island in the Azores, the island dominated by the stratovolcano Pico — at 2,351 metres the highest peak in Portugal and the third highest in the Atlantic Ocean. The marina looks directly across the narrow strait to Faial, and the surrounding ocean is rich cetacean habitat; sperm whales are regularly sighted on passage between the islands.
