Marina Zaton occupies a long, sheltered inlet on the northern Dalmatian coast 12 km north of Zadar, where a river-fed lagoon opens into the Zadar channel. The surrounding landscape of pine woods, reed beds, and shallow bays is a striking contrast to the open-sea sailing of the outer islands. Zaton is quieter than Zadar itself and well-suited to families or crews seeking a peaceful base within easy reach of the city. The Maslenica bridge — gateway to the Velebit coast and the northern approach to Dalmatia — is visible to the northeast. Stern-to Med mooring is standard. A good provisioning stop before setting out for the Kornati.
