About

Port d'Agon-Coutainville is a tidal harbour on the Cotentin peninsula of Normandy, facing the wide expanse of the Baie des Veys and Îles Chausey to the northwest. The bay dries extensively at low water, and pilotage on passage to and from the port requires careful attention to the large tidal range — typical springs exceed 10 m in some parts of the bay. In settled weather, the Cotentin coast offers rewarding gunkholing between the Pointe d'Agon and the Channel Islands. Cherbourg is the nearest major port to the north. A quiet, traditional Norman fishing harbour and resort that sees relatively few cruising visitors compared to the more sheltered harbours of the Channel.
