Port Barcarès

Port Barcarès is a purpose-built marina resort on the Roussillon coast of the Languedoc, set on a narrow strip of land between the Mediterranean and the Étang de Leucate lagoon. The lagoon is a world-class kitesurfing destination, and the marina sits at the northern entrance to a chain of purpose-built Languedoc resorts developed in the 1960s and 70s. The Gulf of Lion sailing area extends north to the Rhône delta and south to the Spanish border. The Tramontane can blow hard from the northwest and generate confused seas in the approaches; the marina entrance is well-sheltered once inside. Stern-to Med mooring is standard. A lively summer resort with good beach access.
