About

Port de Audierne is a tidal harbour at the mouth of the Goyen River on the Finistère coast of southwest Brittany, close to the Pointe du Raz — one of the most dramatic headlands in France. The Raz de Sein tidal race off the Pointe du Raz is a significant obstacle for passage-makers rounding Finistère, and Audierne provides a convenient staging post for waiting for the right conditions. The town has a lively fishing character, a good market, and basic marina facilities. The Île de Sein lies 8 nm offshore — a low, flat island whose entire population was evacuated to join de Gaulle's Free French forces in 1940. Atlantic swell and tidal planning are essential for all passages here.
