About

Porto de Sagres is the most southwesterly harbour in mainland Europe, sheltered behind the dramatic headland of Cabo de São Vicente — "the end of the world" of the ancient world and the point where Vasco da Gama and other Portuguese explorers departed for Africa and India. The small fishing harbour provides basic shelter and is the last practical stop before rounding into the Algarve or heading offshore. The fort of Sagres sits dramatically above the harbour.
