Porto di Palinuro lies in the village of Palinuro at the southern tip of the Cilento peninsula in Campania, named after the helmsman of Aeneas from Virgil's Aeneid who according to legend fell into the sea near this cape. The dramatic limestone headland and its sea caves, including the celebrated Blue Grotto, make Palinuro one of the most striking anchorages on the Tyrrhenian coast.
