The anchorage at Avatoru Pass, one of two navigable passes into the vast Rangiroa lagoon — one of the world's largest atolls in the Tuamotu Archipelago. Yachts must time entry through the pass carefully with the tidal stream to avoid dangerous standing waves. Inside, the lagoon offers stunning diving, snorkelling with schools of dolphins and sharks, and a peaceful atoll anchorage. Basic services available ashore at Avatoru village.
