Lerwick North Harbour is in the capital of Shetland, the most northerly town in the United Kingdom, situated on the eastern shore of Mainland Shetland looking across to the island of Bressay. Lerwick is the main port for Shetland and an important staging point for boats passage-making between the north of Scotland and Norway. The harbour is busy with ferries, fishing vessels and supply ships, but visiting yachts are welcomed. Shetland offers some of the most dramatic and remote cruising in Britain, with outstanding wildlife — puffins, gannets, orcas — and a rich Norse heritage.
