About
Port de Cavalaire is a large, busy marina at Cavalaire-sur-Mer on the Var coast of Provence, near the western end of the Corniche des Maures. With 1,000 berths, it provides a useful staging point between the Îles d'Or (Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and Le Levant) and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. The Îles d'Or are a short day sail and offer some of the finest protected anchorage on the French Riviera, particularly in the turquoise bays of Porquerolles. The port is modern and functional, if less scenic than nearby Saint-Tropez. Stern-to Med mooring is standard. The Mistral can funnel off the Maures hills and generate a short, steep chop in the approaches.
