Komiža Marina is set on the western shore of Vis island — the most remote inhabited island on the Croatian Adriatic, roughly 45 nm from Split. Komiža is a handsome fishing village of Venetian-era stone houses grouped around a small, well-sheltered bay. The island was a closed Yugoslav military zone until 1989, and its waters remain clear and largely uncrowded compared to islands closer to the mainland. The nearby island of Biševo with its famous Blue Cave is easily reached by day trip. Stern-to Med mooring is standard. Vis is increasingly popular with bareboat charterers and blue-water cruisers routing toward Italy or Greece.
