Stewart Island Marina is located in Oban, the only settlement on Rakiura (Stewart Island), New Zealand's third-largest island, separated from the South Island by the 35-kilometre Foveaux Strait. Rakiura — meaning "land of glowing skies" in Māori — is famous for its night skies, kiwi spotting on the beach at dusk, and the 90% of the island that is protected as Rakiura National Park.
