Svetac (Sv. Andrija) is one of the most remote islands on the Croatian Adriatic, lying 20 nm west of Vis in the open sea. The island is uninhabited save for a handful of fishermen and has no regular ferry service. For blue-water cruisers, a stop at Svetac represents the true outer edge of Croatian island-hopping — the next land to the west is Italy. The anchorage in the main bay provides reasonable shelter in settled conditions, but the island is fully exposed to winds from the south and southwest. Provisions must be carried from Vis or Komiža. A genuinely wild and rewarding destination for well-found, self-sufficient vessels.
